Target vs. Walmart the battle rages on.
I get a kick out of different companies and their add campaigns, particularly big battles, Coke v Pepsi, Lysol v Oust and the never ending Target v Walmart. Honestly it seems that Walmart is the one hitting the hardest, their recent commercials even show 3 women 2 with red carts and 1 with a blue cart I’m pretty sure the red carts are Target. Over the course of the commercial they talk more and more about their guaranteed low prices and the women’s carts change to blue one at a time.
Some time ago I posted my observations about the two mega marts and the pros and cons to shopping at each. At the time the only thing Walmart had going for itself over Target was prices, specifically their flour tortillas which were almost never above $1. If you’ve got a tortilla loving family like I do you know how rare a price like that is anywhere! They also were the only one who had a policy of price matching. Unfortunately for them, most of the things that set Walmart apart, including the tortillas (which are now consistently over $1) seem to be going away.
Walmart’s price match campaign states “Other stores say they have the lowest prices, we’ll prove it!” I’ve been using Walmart’s price match policy nonstop since Black Friday checking all the other adds in preparation for my weekly trips. The beauty of a mega mart is that since they try so hard to have everything, their price match policy is very flexible. I can match prices from everything to Best Buy, Toys R Us, Sears, Kmart, Target, as well as the grocery stores. I’ve never tried Rite Aid or Walgreens but I would assume their adds would work as well since Walmart also has a pharmacy.
So far Walmart has been able to claim the lowest prices and as you can see here they have even gone so far as to check the other adds themselves and price match or beat ahead of time, and of course if they miss something you can always price match yourself. Until now.
I was in my Super Target the other day and all over the store are big signs letting shoppers know that while they believe their prices are the lowest (the fact that they shop other stores and lower their prices, has been broadcasted in previous signs) they will also now price match as well! For someone who has had considerably more plesant experiences in Target than Walmart and frequently has promotion earned gift cards to spend, this is certainly welcome news. Now I can do my Target only deals and bring my price match list along with me! I am not sure if they will match all the stores that Walmart will, but I’m sure I’ll find out soon as I try it out. If anything does not count, I’ll be sure to let you all know.

That great to hear! I would much rather shop at Target than Walmart. However, I do have to say last weekend Walmart did a price match for us with the Best Buy ad. Since the item wasn’t on sale at Walmart they had to drop their price $30.00 for the price match! We shall see if Target will do that as well.
